LPS hosts welcome back celebration

Lincoln public schools held a welcome back celebration this morning.

"Welcome Nebraska teacher of the year…Amber Alashik," said Steve Joel Lincoln Public Schools superintendent.

It was at Pinnacle Bank Arena. All students and faculty were invited

There were multiple speakers, including Mayor Chris Beulter, superintendent Dr. Steve Joel, and one very special Lincoln teacher.

Amber Vlashik, 2017 teacher of the year said, "as the 2017 Nebraska teacher of the year, I’ve had opportunities that have shown me just how out their education can be."

Amber spoke about her time attending space camp in Alabama, and got the teachers up and moving with exercises and introductions.
