Swaths of internet down, outage at cloud company Fastly

LONDON (AP) — A widespread internet outage Tuesday morning appears to link directly back to cloud service company Fastly.
Dozens of high-traffic websites including the New York Times, CNN, Twitch, and the U.K. government’s home page, could not be reached.
There is no indication at this time this is connected to recent ransomware attacks. The Fastly status page had an update at 5:57 am Lincoln time “The issue has been identified and a fix has been applied. Customers may experience increased origin load as global services return.”
Here’s an explanation from Fastly:
We identified a service configuration that triggered disruptions across our POPs globally and have disabled that configuration. Our global network is coming back online. Continued status is available at https://t.co/RIQWX0LWwl
