Floating playground opens

The floating playground made it’s grand opening debut on August 1st.

"I like jumping off of the inflatable diving board," said Kylie Fullerton. "Me too," said Bella Nielson.

The floating playground is made of heavy duty rubber–like material and is anchored into place with cement blocks.

We asked a park official what this playground means for Nebraska.

"To bring a different type of water attraction and different type of water experience that’s not seen around here very often and so the people have another opportunity to do some different things," said Park Superintendent, Matt Sutton.

There are many features that come with the obstacle course including trampolines, climbing structures, monkey bars and much more.

An employee said they were one of the first to tryout the playground. He said it provides a lot more for the park and brings in a bigger demographic.

"I see just as much enjoyment coming from the adults as much as I do from the kids. You hear laughter’s and fun little jokes going on between the adults. I think they are having a grand time too as well," said Torry Hull.

Each session is 90 minutes long. Life jackets are required and the park provides them and helps you get fitted.

Many of the kids said they plan on coming back soon. Here is there advice on others interested in trying it out.

"You will get really wet and you’ll have a blast," said Fullerton.

The floating playground is open every day of the week until August 12th. After that, it’s open only on the weekends.
