Following third crash, State Patrol wants drivers to pay more attention

The Nebraska State Patrol says they want you to pay more attention on the road.
This comes just after a third state patrol vehicle was hit in less than a month. Two of those crashes happened to cruisers that were stopped. In all three cases, the troopers suffered non–life threatening injuries.
But NSP says it wants drivers to know that crashes can happen at any time, so make sure you’re paying attention.
"A lot of times, what happens is people are not focusing on the road or the road signs or seeing emergency vehicles — whether it’s law enforcement, fire or EMS or even tow truck drivers," Capt. Lance Rogers says.
It is state law to move over to another lane to give more space to a vehicle on the side of the road. If you can’t, slow down to give yourself more time to react.
