Saline County Fair begins

"I love the fair, the fair is just fun," said Judy Rada.
The Saline County Fair kicked off Monday. This year’s theme is red, white and blue, this fair is for you.
I visited the exhibit building where the entries for open class began.
Anything from paintings, ceramics, textiles, flowers, and vegetables.. you name it.
I spoke with Margaret Witte who entered some items in the textiles category, one being a quilt she made for a very special friend.
"A very dear friend of mine gave me these basket blocks and we’ve known each other for many years and she is ill so I wanted to get this done while she’s able to still see it," said Witte.
Margaret also told me that since she retired, she finally has more time for quilting. She was happy to have finished some of her pieces for the fair.
Judy Rada has been helping out at the fair for about 8 years. Everything about the Saline County Fair has her excited.
"All of them, there isn’t anything I don’t like. I like the demo derby, I like the figure eight, I like the rodeo, I like the people that come in here and we talk too."
Just as Margret said, so many events are happening. A demolition derby is scheduled for Thursday night.
The entertainment on Friday night is a Clay Walker concert. Tickets are on sale for $20. As for Saturday, I was told the rodeo has over 110 riders.
