Some hospice residents got a special pet therapy session today.
Residents of Sumner Place Nursing Home got to hang out with two horses, Happy and Moose.
The horse’s owners say Moose is the third tallest horse in the state standing around 6 feet tall at the shoulder.
The event was organized by St. Croix Hospice.
Alicia Brown said, "When a patient is on hospice, it’s obviously the end stage of their life. They’ve got possibly, maybe 6 months to live. The pets are coming to them to take their mind off of their illness. It can alleviate pain, it can alleviate anxiety."
