Scattered rain on Monday; Below average temps continue….
Sunday turned out to be another cooler than average day for Lincoln. Our average high this time of year is 88° and Lincoln made it to 85° on Sunday, so we’re not doing all too bad temperature-wise for late June!
It was warm enough to spark some shower and thunderstorm development out west by Noon on Sunday. These storms were non-severe but did allow for some breezy conditions in locations that experienced them.
These storms are slowly pushing eastward and may approach Lincoln Sunday evening. Know that not everyone will see rain from these storms. They will be hit or miss. It’s even possible that these storms might weaken entirely before they reach Lincoln!
We keep an isolated shower chance overnight Sunday and into Monday morning. Otherwise, we stay partly to mostly cloudy with a low of 63°.
We’ll have renewed rain chances Monday afternoon as temperatures rise. An upper-level disturbance will be exiting Monday afternoon, and that should be enough to “prime” the atmosphere in and around Lincoln for storm development. I think we may see some storms developing as early as lunchtime and persisting into the afternoon/evening.
Lincoln’s rain chances are slightly better on Monday, but these storms will still be scattered in nature. This means that it won’t be raining at every point in the day…just that you’ll probably have to dodge some showers here and there. Monday should feature more clouds. Temperatures still below average, a high near 83°.
We’re keeping isolated rain chances in the forecast through Thursday. Computer model guidance is suggesting a pattern change starting Friday, which may translate to slightly cooler temperatures and drier weather for the weekend. Stay tuned to Channel 8 News for the latest!
