Uncle Sam Jam returns to Lincoln
The annual event took place on Saturday for the first time in nearly two years.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Hundreds made their way to Oak Lake on Saturday to enjoy Uncle Sam Jam. The event returned for the first time in nearly two years after being cancelled last year due to the pandemic. Organizers said the community coming together to slow the spread of COVID was one of the big reasons the event was able to take place this year.
“The evidence of their success is here now,” city public information specialist Jon Taylor said. “This is proof that all these people get together in this park, because we were able to stop the spread of this.”
Guests could enjoy food, music and of course, the fireworks.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been out with my family so we came out this year,” attendee Nessa Sotelo said.
Several food vendors lined the park. The strawberry funnel cake from the Funnel Cake Guy stole the show during the event.
“We’ve done a few events already this year,” owner Nick Benes said. “We’re just ecstatic to be back here, just getting back to normalcy.”
The food truck is a regular at Uncle Sam Jam. Even though last year’s event was cancelled, Benes and his wife still found a way to bring their sweat treat to the community.
“Luckily, we were able to just hangout in our community,” Benes said. “We served our community in Malcolm. That’s the town we live in. They were ecstatic just to have us serving around in our community which is great.”
