It isn’t just smoke in the sky Monday night
Really nice couple of days for southeast Nebraska. Temperatures have been below normal – highs in the lower to middle 80°s – and dew point temperatures below 60°. This was the coolest morning in Lincoln in nearly three weeks (dropped to 56°).
You may have noticed a little bit of haze in the sky. That is smoke from forest fires in Canada. The haze will hang around for a little while this evening and early tonight. However, smoke in the atmosphere may allow for a colorful sunset Monday evening.
High-resolution computer models suggest that the haze should reduce for most of the area Tuesday.
The haze should not stop you from being able to watch the International Space Station pass over southeast Nebraska Monday night. The space station will be visible for seven minutes beginning at 10:50 p.m. This will be a long viewing time, so get the family and go out side and look up!
While you are outside, there are many other objects you can see in the night sky with your own eyes. This is an approximate map of some of those objects in the night sky at approximately 10:50 p.m.
A few scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Tuesday afternoon. I think more will be dry than wet from what rain does develop.
Otherwise, temperatures will be much more mid-July like with highs in the lower 90°s.warmer weather increases with time.
