LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Resources will be available to Lincoln Public School students mourning the death of a classmate.

The LPS Crisis Team will be at Lincoln High on Wednesday from 1-3 p.m. to meet with students and staff, Principal Mark Larson said in a letter to families.

It comes after the death of 17-year-old Nevaeh Martinez, who was fatally shot earlier this month while visiting family in Topeka, Kansas.

Martinez would have been a senior this fall, Larson said.

Crisis Team members will be available in-person and via Zoom.

Larson said they, along with school administrators, are available to work with students to find “positive and school-appropriate ways” to honor Nevaeh.
