LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Board of Education has voted to postpone development of the proposed Health Education Standards from the NDE.

The original draft of the Health Education Standards included learning about different kinds of family structures, and gender identity.

After some revisions, subjects like gender identity had been stripped from the standards by the NDE.

The standards would have provided guidance for schools, and it would have been up to individual school districts to choose whether to implement them.
