Welcome to Aug-tober
Another day and another day reaching 80° this month. It reached 81° in Lincoln Thursday, now taking the total of 80° in October to four days. By the way, that is the normal number of 80° during the month. I’ve got two, maybe three, more 80° days over the next week and a half. At this point, October may need to be renamed “Aug-tober” because of what’s to come.
There should be a jump in temperatures Friday and Saturday throughout southeast Nebraska. Even with a mid-to-high level veil of clouds filtering the sun, temperatures will climb to the middle and upper 80°s both days.
A cold front will pass through the region Sunday morning. The front is going to pass through dry, meaning no rain. Winds will shift around to the northwest Sunday but the cooler air behind the cold front will be lag many hours behind the front.
The chance for rain increases later Sunday night, mainly for the extreme southeast corner of the state. There is still some question as to how long rain chances will stay up going in to Monday. At this distance, it looks like rain starts to move out anytime after mid-morning Monday.
