Nebraska Wesleyan students hold annual rat races

Students from Nebraska Wesleyan got to put their training to the test Tuesday at the annual rat races.
The rats went through a series of races including hurdles, climbing and even a tight rope.
The rodents were offered some incentives like fruity pebbles to make their way over the ropes.
Students had four months to prepare their rats for the big race, some even going above and beyond in the training.
“I’ve been teaching her how to do pretty much all of the events here and even some special events. So, I’ve been teaching her how to paint and she’s been doing pretty well but I’ve also taught her how to weave in and out of some cones,” Katie Bloom said.
Many students said they would be adopting their rats at the end of the semester because they’ve built a special bond.
