Chess expert takes on local players

JJ Lang took on 16 local players... at the same time!

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Plains Baptist Church chess club featured a special guest at Thursday’s meeting, chess expert JJ Lang.

Lang is a renowned chess player who is now based in Lincoln. Lang is an “expert” level chess player who also teaches the art of the game.

He took on not one, but 16 players all at the same time.

“I think it’s really cool to see somebody play a bunch of people at once, to people who don’t play its kind of hard to imagine, and I think that generates a lot of excitement and interest in the game, and that’s really the most important thing to me is I want as many people as possible who might somehow get bit by the bug, and really want to see what this is about, and learn to have that exposure to it.”

If you want to try your hand at chess, the PBC chess club meets every Thursday night.

All players are welcome, regardless of age or experience.
