Saying goodbye to 70°+ temperatures

High temperatures reached the 70° mark yet again for many across southeast Nebraska on Sunday. Despite some high clouds in the morning, we saw full sunshine before sunset. However, Mother Nature has decided she’s pampered us for too long. The warm weather departs starting Monday with the passage of a front in the morning.

This front, however, will not cause any rain overnight Sunday and into Monday morning. Skies will be mostly clear and low temperatures should start out in the low-40s in Lincoln. We’re watching the potential for some low clouds and/or patchy fog to develop in some areas by morning.

Sunday Night Forecast

Some low clouds may be stubborn and persist into the afternoon, but it is looking more likely that sunshine should be able to warm us up to the upper-50s to low-60s. We’re anticipating some more clouds to develop late in the day as a disturbance approaches Monday evening.

Monday Forecast

While this disturbance also doesn’t appear to bring any meaningful rainfall along with it, clouds will increase overnight Monday. Although we’re not expecting full-blown showers, an isolated sprinkle or isolated pockets of mist are possible late Monday and early Tuesday.

Stormcast Tuesday Morning

That disturbance departs by Tuesday afternoon, giving us the opportunity to see some blue sky. However, clouds return yet again Tuesday night in advance of a stronger upper-level disturbance. That disturbance looks like it will give us our next best chance to see measurable rain.

We’re increasing rain chances on Wednesday, and temperatures will be warm enough for everything to fall in the form of rain. Behind Wednesday’s system resides cooler weather with the coldest air appearing to be with us on Friday.
