Residents no longer need to separate grass and leaves from trash

LTU recommends using paper lawn bags for collecting leaves to avoid having them freeze at the bottom of waste bins.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Transportation and Utilities Department announced that beginning on December, 1, residents no longer need to separate grass and leaves from their trash.

Residents can place grass and leaves in their trash from December 1 through March 31. Additional fees may be charged for waste collection based on the weight of grass and leaves.

From April 1 through November 30, grass and leaves must be separated from household trash. Grass and leaves during this time are sent to the City’s compost facility.
