UNL assistant professor found not guilty of vandalizing Jeff Fortenberry sign

A University of Nebraska-Lincoln associate professor cited for vandalizing property of Nebraska Rep. Jeff Fortenberry was found not guilty following a trial.

Patricia Wonch Hill, a research assistant professor of sociology, was charged with misdemeanor vandalism for allegedly placing googly eyes on a Fortenberry campaign sign last October.

Lincoln police said fingerprint evidence tied Wonch Hill to the vandalism, but court documents filed Friday showed the court found prosecutors did not meet the burden of proof necessary to convict her.
