LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln police say an officer tased and arrested a man who attempted to choke an officer during a struggle.

On Thursday, Lincoln police received a call around 2:30 a.m. to the 1200 block of D street on a trespassing. The caller told police a man was trespassing in the building’s laundry room.

Officers arrived at the building and contacted 39-year-old Timothy Bowie, they explained to him that he needed to leave. Bowie began to walk away when an officer discovered he was wanted on an outstanding warrant for theft, according to LPD.

Bowie lunged at an officer and wrapped his arms around their neck when they tried to take him into custody.

During a struggle, officers attempted to remove Bowie’s arms around the officer’s neck. As the officer began to lose consciousness, an officer tased Bowie and took him into custody

A local hospital evaluated Bowie, as is policy following exposure to a taser. The officer had minor injuries but declined medical treatment.

LPD arrested Bowie for assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and the outstanding warrant.
