Turning up the heat this week

While Sunday started out in the single-digits (9° in Lincoln), Sunday afternoon was significantly warmer. Highs managed to reach the 40s across southeast Nebraska, all under abundant sunshine.

Some clouds reside in northern Nebraska as of Sunday evening. Those clouds should remain north of the capital city overnight and into Monday morning. If you live near the Tri-Cities, you’ll likely see a few more clouds on Sunday night. The general rule of thumb is more clouds to the north and west. Lows on Monday morning should be near 19° in Lincoln.

Sunday Night Forecast

On Monday morning, we’ll be watching a cold front pushing through southeast Nebraska. This will open the door for the clouds in northern Nebraska to slide into the area on Monday afternoon. Expect a few more clouds on Monday as a result. Once the front passes, winds shift out of the north. This will limit high temperatures to the 30s.

Monday Forecast

Beyond Monday, temperatures start to climb. We’re back in the 40s on Tuesday and Wednesday. In fact, we’ve had to make some changes to the late-week forecast by introducing 50°+ temperatures by Thursday.

Temperatures - Looking Ahead

There are still a few details we need to iron out pertaining to the late-week forecast. Confidence is growing that we’ll see an upper-level disturbance pass through the area on Christmas Eve. As of now, this disturbance looks dry and will have the effect of reducing temperatures for Christmas Day. Stay tuned!
