NORFOLK, Neb. (KLKN) – The City of Norfolk honored two men with the Lifesaver Award for rescuing an unresponsive one-year-old boy out of a private lake.

Norfolk’s Public Safety Division awarded both Kory Hildebrand and Kris Johnson on Wednesday for their actions on July 3, 2020. The city credits the two with saving a one-year-old boy’s life after they administered CPR until Norfolk Rescue arrived.

“When citizens make a choice to get involved and place themselves in harm’s way to save a complete stranger, it is worthy of recognition and our sincerest gratitude,” said Assistant City Administrator/Public Safety Director Scott Cordes.

The City of Norfolk encourages residents to take CPR classes at Northeast Community College.

“What Kory and Kris did that day at the lake saved a life, for this there is no dispute,” said Cordes.
