Local organization giving back just in time for the holidays

City Impact volunteers spent the evening registering low-income families for their annual Gifts of Love event.
Every year, City Impact sets up a Christmas store. Those who qualify will be able to buy new gifts for their children at a discounted price.
Volunteers from local businesses, churches, and clubs spent hours registering Lincoln residents.
“Last year I found an Alexa in the store and my oldest daughter had wanted one,” Katie Ness, a parent and volunteer, said. “I got an Alexa from Gifts of Love for like ten dollars.”
Volunteers predict that shelves this year will be filled with gifts such as bikes, electronics, and makeup.
Last year, the store provided presents to over 3,000 children.
Lisa Guill, the Communications Director at City Impact, spoke fondly of the event.
“It’s not a program that offers free gifts to families, but it’s a program that offers empowerment to families that have a little bit of money to spend on their kiddos,” Guill said. “They really wanna find some gifts that they may not be able to get through other programs.”
The store will be open and ready for business Dec. 13 and 14.
Tomorrow is the last day to register.
