Lincoln Parks and Rec hosts meeting for their 10 year plan

Members of the public had the chance to look over and speak their mind Thursday night about Lincoln Parks and Recreation’s 10 year plan.

The plan is an estimated $48.3 million including many new projects. A new Air Park Recreation Center, Emerald Ash Borer recovery and maintenance.

This years plan is $17 million more than the 2017 plan. Much of the cost comes from the new projects, a park in the South Haymarket Area and the yearly upkeep of city trails, parks and outdoor areas.

The plan will be voted on December 12th. Some of the public comment made a mark on the committee members.

“Van Dorn Park is a sadly neglected park. I think parks and rec has even admitted it for various reasons among them accessibility,” said Diana Walkowiak of Lincoln.

Other folks that spoke about Cooper Park, Wilderness Park and the use of funds for Van Dorn Park.

The city encourages the public to check out the proposed plan and give feedback. For more details click here.
