‘A bright future ahead’: LPS looking for new leader as superintendent retires
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The search begins for a new leader of Lincoln Public Schools.
On Tuesday, the school board held a meeting, where Superintendent Paul Gausman addressed the community for the first time after announcing his retirement.
“Public schools are the backbone of America, and are so important for our future success,” he said. “And the Lincoln Public Schools are very special.”
Gausman said it is time for him to explore other opportunities and spend more time with family.

Liz Standish, the associate superintendent for business affairs, will serve as interim superintendent until Jan. 14.
Then, the board will choose another interim superintendent.
“I expect us to have an announcement sometime in January,” said Bob Rauner, the president of LPS’s school board. “We plan to provide additional updates to the process to the community by our next regular meeting in January.”
