AAA gives tips on preparing your car ahead of potential winter storm

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – With potential winter weather on the way later this week, it’s time to prepare for driving in the snow.

AAA recommends having emergency supplies inside your car:

  • Snacks
  • Blankets
  • Extra clothing
  • Cellphone charging block
  • Shovel
  • First-aid kit

“Keeping your vehicle with routine maintenance is a good thing to make habit of. You can keep your vehicles road ready by ensuring the scheduled maintenance is completed.” said Brian Ortner, public affairs specialist for AAA Nebraska. “Have an inspection of your battery done, your brakes, your belts, hoses, oils, fluid, tires or other vehicle systems that can help prevent inconvenient and costly breakdowns.”

He also said to make sure you do any shopping or other non-essential travel before the storm comes. Only drive during the storm if you absolutely have to, and give yourself plenty of time to get to your destination.
