LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Tuesday was national Secure Your Load Day across the United States.

The day serves as a way to raise awareness for those who lost their lives due to flying debris and to remind drivers to make sure their belongings are secure.

As the summer months arrive, Nebraskans are encouraged to secure their cargo to avoid accidents and ensure safety for all travelers.

“Plain and simple, it’s about safety on the highways and roads,” AAA Nebraska spokesman Brian Ortner said. “The day is to honor peoples who lives were impacted or taken by unsecure loads on vehicles or road debris and encourages drivers to properly secure their loads.
