The announcement was made on Twitter on Thursday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Quarterback Adrian Martinez announced on Twitter he will be entering the transfer portal.

In a statement made on Twitter Martinez said, “I want to thank Coach Frost, Verduzco, and the rest of the staff for giving me an opportunity to play for such a great University. Thank you to my teammates and lifelong friends for making my time here special. Thank you to the people of Nebraska for your continued support throughout my journey.”

Martinez was unavailable for last Friday’s game against Iowa with a shoulder injury suffered during the Wisconsin game.

During Martinez’s time at Nebraska, he broke school records including career total offensive yards (10,792) and career completions (670).

Martinez completed 61 percent of his passes for 2,863 yards and 14 touchdowns during the 2021 season. Martinez became the first player in school history with four 1,000-yard passing seasons.
