All Lincoln pools to reopen, but with limited hours

Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Johnson said the department plans to cut back pool availability by an hour when they open May 29.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — All nine of Lincoln’s city-run pools will reopen this month, but they’ll likely do so with limited hours.

Parks and Recreation Director Lynn Johnson said the department plans to cut back pool availability by an hour when they open May 29.

The reduced hours are the result of a limited number of available lifeguards and other staff, something Johnson said is an issue across the country.

The worker shortage will also result in reduced swimming lesson sessions and limited pool rentals.

Attendees will be required to provide their name and contact information for contact tracing if necessary.

The season will end on Sunday, August 15.

Public pool locations and hours are as follows:

Star City Shores Aquatic Center

Applications for seasonal employment, including pool staff, can be found at jobs.lincoln.ne.gov.

Lifeguards, swim lesson instructors, concessions, and cashier staff must be at least 16 years of age.
