American Ballet Theatre announces national tour, including Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The American Ballet Theatre (ABT) is launching a historic national tour in Lincoln.

ABT will present a free outdoor performance on Thursday, July 1 at 8:15 pm in Pioneers Park. Although the tickets are free, they must be reserved in advance at www.liedcenter.org/ABT.

The company will feature 20 acclaimed dancers with styles ranging from traditional ballet to contemporary dance.

This outdoor event, presented by the Lied Center, will be the first live performance for ABT in over a year.

“We are absolutely thrilled and honored that American Ballet Theatre, America’s National Ballet Company chose to launch this special tour with the Lied Center in Lincoln, Nebraska,” said Lied Center Executive Director Bill Stephan.”This event is the perfect way to celebrate life again and all the wonderful things we have been missing during the pandemic.”

Audiences are welcome to bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the large grassy area near the Pioneers Park columns.
