LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The 14th annual I Love My Dog Expo wrapped up on Sunday. The benefit is to help support Domesti-PUPS programs to provide service, therapy and adoptable dogs.

Domesti-PUPS is a service organization headquartered in Lincoln.

Just over 40 businesses set up booths at the expo. The event usually sees over 60 businesses, but COVID cut the number down. Dog owners and non-dog owners could check out the event and learn more about products and training their pet.

“Obviously anytime you can do something with your dog it’s a great opportunity,” Domesti-PUPS executive director Michelle O’Dea said. “The pandemic has took a toll on a lot of us. Sometimes a dog can help.”

O’Dea said the organization has seen about a 20 percent increase in people searching for therapy and emotional dogs.

For some owners, the expo was a chance to get out of the house and enjoy the day with their pet.

“We’ve spent most of it more or less shut up at home,” attendee Logan Snyder said. “Having events start up while still being safe and controlled is a nice thing to have.”
