Anthony Zappa Sentenced to Life
The man convicted of kidnapping a Kearney teenager from a shopping mall last year received the maximum federal sentence Monday, life in prison. And he was also handed a seven year consecutive sentence on a weapon count. The victim, Anne Sluti was not in court, but both her parents were present for the sentencing.
Throughout that trial, Zappa continuously disrupted the court with outbursts. But this time he was much more subdued.
Anthony Zappa's attorney James Martin Davis said there is a question of whether Zappa received a fair trial because of all of his disruptive behavior. Davis will also review the length of his sentence, which means Zappa could appeal.
