Arbor Day Farm’s Applejack Festival is about to begin

Apples, apples, apples. Eat 'em, bake 'em, drink 'em, even pick a few for yourself in Nebraska City.

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. (KLKN) – Move over, New York City. Nebraska City is the Big Apple now, so to speak. It’s time for the Applejack Festival! And where better than Arbor Day Farm to celebrate the fall season, and those fabulous fruits that fit right in with the season.

“You can pick apples, you can buy pre-picked apples, you can eat apples, of course”, says Arbor Day Farm marketing specialist Connie Van Nostrand. But wait, as they say, there’s more! “We have caramel apples, apple donuts, pie, cider – some of the best cider you’re ever going to have. You can get it all here on the farm this weekend.”

On this first weekend of the festival, some newcomers are going to be present at the farm.

“We have the Love, The Locals makers market and they are coming here to Arbor Day Farm”, explains Van Nostrand. “They’re going to be in the historic barns this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, and we’re just really excited.”

Another exciting aspect of the celebration: it can be as expensive or inexpensive as you like.

Van Nostrand says, “You can come to the farm and experience Applejack without buying a ticket. We have parking on-site, and that is free. You can walk the trails at Arbor Lodge State Historical Park or across the property.”

That said, there are some extra adventures that are ticketed. Things like wine and hard cider tasting, the tree adventure, and others, have limited space and will have timed tickets. It’s recommended that you make those purchases in advance. You can do so at the Arbor Day Farm website, here.
