Authorities say several people were arrested for damaging a Lincoln Target store and violating the city’s curfew order.
Lincoln police told Channel 8 Eyewitness News multiple people were detained, though authorities are still working to determine how many of the arrests were for violating curfew and how many were for other crimes. County jail records show more than 20 people were booked for similar offenses.
A group of what appeared to be several dozen people marched down O Street before making their way to the Target at 48th St. Video shows people trying to break in and damage the store. When police arrived, tear gas was deployed and the crowd dispersed.
The incident occurred not long after hundreds of people left a peaceful protest that ended with a law enforcement representative kneeling with a group of protesters at the state capitol.
City officials are expected to provide more details Tuesday afternoon.
