Ashland Mayor Rick Grauerholz dies at 74
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Ashland community is grieving the sudden loss of Mayor Rick Grauerholz, a 40-year veteran of the Ashland Fire Department.
Grauerholz, the former the fire chief, died on Friday at age 74.
He also served with the Nebraska State Fire Marshal Agency for more than 30 years.
The visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, and his funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m.
Both will be held at First Christian Church, 1702 Boyd St, in Ashland.
A livestream of the funeral will be available on the Marcy Mortuary Facebook page.
Due to limited seating in the church, all first responders are asked to watch the funeral at the Ashland fire station via live feed.
Rep. Don Bacon released a statement about the mayor’s death:
“My heart is broken for the loss of Mayor Grauerholz. He’s been a great friend and I respected his counsel. My sympathies to his wife Becky, daughter Karri, son Dietrich, and his six grandchildren.”
