Ashley HomeStore gathering donations to give to people affected by Tornados in Kentucky

BEATRICE, Neb. (KLKN) – After tornados ravaged numerous states over the past weekend many people lost everything.  Ashley HomeStore at the Indian Creek mall in Beatrice is calling on members of the community to step up and donate items to send to people affected by the tornados.

They are looking for people to donate items like baby formula, diapers, water, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, blankets, and much more.

The store is hoping to have the truck depart for Kentucky this weekend so it gets there before Christmas.

Jenny Swarthout, the manager for the store said, ” I think just being from a small community we always wonder what we could do to help her or elsewhere as a small community. So we just thought on our part we could just take a truck load of donations, that’s the least we could do.”

She said Ashley HomeStore has done a donation drive like this before a few years ago when communities in the south were affected by hurricanes.

If you want to donate items you can stop by the store anytime during business hours (10am-7pm).  You don’t even need to walk inside the store.  Just drive up to the big, orange Ashley truck and place your items in the back.
