Authorities ID man killed in north Lincoln crash

Lincoln police say 24-year-old David McClain was declared dead at the scene.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities have identified a man killed in a Wednesday morning crash in northeast Lincoln.

The crash happened just before 7 a.m. near 70th and Cornhusker Hwy.

Lincoln police say 24-year-old David McClain was declared dead at the scene.

McClain’s mother, identified by police as 44-year-old Kristie Jones, was taken to a local hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Police say the Ford Flex they were in collided with a nearly fully loaded Mack truck that weighed approximately 95,000 pounds.

Multiple witnesses told officers the Ford Flex violated a red light and pulled out in front of the truck.

The crash caused the contents of the truck to spill into the intersection, which required several hours of cleanup.

The truck driver was not seriously injured, police say.

The crash remains under investigation.
