LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A Beatrice family is looking for answers after their vehicles were set on fire Monday morning.

Beatrice resident Janelle Williamson was sitting in her recliner when she saw two police officers walk up to her home. They informed her and her husband, Ben, their trailer and truck were missing.

The Gage County Sheriff’s Office found the vehicle and trailer about a mile apart, set on fire. There was also $40,000 worth of Ben’s tools missing.

The family was planning on insuring the trailer this week. Janelle said this has been emotional for the whole family, especially Ben.

“Honestly, I have never seen him cry his heart out so much,” she said. “He’s the support of our family.”

Without his tools, Ben hasn’t been able to run his business.

“He hasn’t been to work in three days , because he doesn’t have the things he needs to work,” Janelle said. “He has about 20 customers waiting on him to get to their place to get their jobs done. It’s just so stressful.”

The family just wants answers.  They’re questioning why it all happened right before they were about to get their trailer insured.

“I want to know if it is some young kids that thought it was funny, or is somebody mad at us that we don’t know about,” Janelle asked. “I don’t think that’s the case because Ben is a very quiet, nice person and we have a very small circle of people we talk. “I don’t know who would be mad at us, but right now, it seems kind of personal.”

If you’re interested in helping the family, you can donate to their GoFundMe found here.
