Big New Store Coming To Northeast Lincoln

Residents in Northeast Lincoln can expect some big development in the future.

Plans to build a brand new grocery store near 84th and Holdrege is now in the works.

The Mayor's Office has announced the plans to build one of the largest Hy-Vee stores in the country.

The new store will be around 84,000 square feet, the largest in the Lincoln and Omaha area.

It's the second largest in the country.

It will also have a wine and spirit store and gas station.

The new store will employ 400 new workers.

The development will not need approval by the City Council because the area is already zoned and the land is being purchased from a private owner.

The store will also serve as an anchor for a brand new community center that will include retail and service businesses.

The project will cost around 15 million dollars.

Plans to start building the store will begin next spring.
