Authorities identify teenager killed in two-vehicle crash west of Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday identified a teenager who was killed in a two-vehicle crash west of Lincoln.

Ali Alasady, 18, from Lincoln, was ejected from the vehicle during the crash at the intersection of Northwest 84th and West O streets.

According to the sheriff’s office, two people are still in the hospital being treated for non-life-threatening injuries — another person who was also ejected from the Ford Focus, and someone who was in the Nissan Kicks.

Everyone else has been treated and released from the hospital. Everyone involved in the crash ranged in age from their late teens to their early 20s.

The sheriff’s office said the driver of the Ford Focus was wearing a seatbelt, but the two passengers, who were both ejected, were not.

According to the sheriff’s office, the driver of the Ford is suspected of using marijuana at the time of the crash.

The sheriff’s office said the Ford Focus was headed south on NW 84th Street when it failed to stop at the intersection and collided with an eastbound Nissan Kicks on West O Street.

“It was a very violent crash,” Chief Deputy Ben Houchin said during a press conference. “The Ford Focus didn’t stop at all, didn’t hit its brakes or do anything. It just went through at a pretty good clip of speed. It’s always sad to lose anybody, but I am amazed after watching that crash that more people weren’t hurt more seriously.”

Houchin said there was a video of the crash from a nearby business.
