Big Ten announces first ever volleyball media days

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Big Ten Network announced on Friday that for the first time ever the Big Ten conference will host a Volleyball Media Days. The event is scheduled to take place on Aug. 1-2 at the Big Ten Network studios in Chicago.

Big Ten Network broadcaster Emily Ehman and the American Volleyball Coaches Association were the first to confirm the news to Twitter. According to Ehman all 14 Big Ten coaches and one or two players will attend the big event.

“I think an event like this for volleyball just shows how much volleyball is growing and how much people care about the sport,” Ehman said. It shows that we’re putting effort, resources, money and time into the sport because we know that the fans and the viewers are there.”

The details on what day Nebraska will be attending is still unknown but Ehman says head coach John Cook has been fighting for something like this for a long time.

“So many coaches have been really outspoken about it in the last few months of just ramping up coverage,” Ehman said. “Someone like John Cook from Nebraska or Kelly Sheffield from Wisconsin they’ve been pushing for this.”
