LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) is hosting its annual blood drive in memory of Alexis Calfee Wednesday, July 1 and Thursday, July 2. This will mark the 11th anniversary of this blood drive.

Calfee and her boyfriend, Christopher Oberg, were killed in a drunk driving accident when they were just 18 and 20.

Calfee’s family has organized this blood drive in her memory for more than a decade and plan to continue.

The blood drive will be from 2-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1 and 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 2. It will be hosted at the Bennet Elementary Commons.

NCBB says it will only take one hour to donate and save multiple lives. The blood donated can help patients of many different things like cancer patients, burn victims, newborn babies and more.
