Body found by Branched Oak Lake boater, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A boater at Branched Oak Lake found a body floating in the water Sunday evening, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Terry Wagner said that campers found an unattended boat drifting near the shore on Saturday.

The campers believed the boat had come loose and towed it to the marina so it didn’t get damaged, Wagner said.

Lincoln Police were contacted on Sunday after the marina determined that there was reason to be concerned.

The Sheriff’s Office received help from Nebraska Game and Parks to search the lake.

Ultimately, another boater found the body of Kurt Rowe, 60, floating in the lake.

Wagner says an autopsy was ordered to determine if Rowe’s death was suspicious.
