Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln celebrates 15th anniversary with casino night fundraiser

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County celebrated its 15th anniversary on Friday with a fundraiser for children and families in need.

It was the first event to celebrate the milestone.

The annual fundraiser is the nonprofit’s most popular event, drawing companies and residents from all over Lincoln.

Participants in the casino night, hosted at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, enjoyed live entertainment, casino games, raffle drawings and more.Boys & Girls Clubs Executive Director Kimberly Goins said the purpose of the fundraiser is to provide youths opportunities.“This event is for our summer programming,” she said. “We don’t turn any family away for an inability to pay, and so 100% of every dollar raised tonight goes directly to our program.”Over the past year, the organization continued providing meal services and worked on innovative ways to help Lincoln Public Schools students and the community with fun programs like BGC in a Box, which brought the nonprofit’s programs to students’ homes during COVID-19 school closures.

This summer, it will continue holding in-person programs to provide a fun, safe place for children to continue learning during the break from school.
