UPDATE:

We now learned the names of the two people killed in a shooting at Stonecliff Estates Thursday.

They are 85-year-old Deaetta Danley of Lincoln and 86-year-old Warren Danley of Lincoln.

Lincoln police suspect death was because of the couple’s declining health.

A peaceful neighborhood in north Lincoln turned into a crime scene Thursday, after two people were found shot to death in their apartment.

"I just saw people standing around and cameras and I thought well I wonder what’s going on up there; I better go check it out. I had no idea. Sad, I think it’s really sad,” Jean Eden, who lives behind the apartment, said.

Lincoln Police say a man called in around 11:45 A.M. and told them he’d discovered his parents dead in chairs inside their apartment at Stonecliff Estates on north 27th street, just off the interstate.

When officers arrived on scene, they say they found two people in their 80’s-a man and a woman-with gunshot wounds to the head. Officers say they’re investigating it as an apparent murder suicide. Neighbors tell us they can’t believe this happened so close to home.

"Well it is a shock and that I come home and see all the police over here and everything then I find out what happened across the street and that and it’s kinda different,” George Stastney, who lives across the street, said.

The apartments and surrounding neighborhoods are a senior living facility, which houses people 55 and up. Police are still looking into the events that led up to the murder suicide.

This is a developing story, we’ll bring you more details as they become available.
