Officials said one person has died after a SUV vs. semi crash.

The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near S 91st Street and Highway 2.

Officials say the driver of the SUV was the only person in the car. The driver of the semi was not injured and his helping police in determining how the accident happened.

Lincoln Police said an initial review of the scene led them to believe the SUV rear-ended the semi. It’s unclear if the semi was moving or stopped when the accident occurred.

Hwy 2 will be closed westbound from Yankee Hill for an extended period of time as investigators process the scene. We are asking drivers to avoid the area and to use alternate routes.

Officials told a Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter on scene that westbound traffic is shut off at S 91th Street and Yankee Hill Road, and could be shut off for several hours.

Eastbound traffic is unaffected.
