Bryan Health officials on Monday said they have seen 24 positive COVID-19 tests to date.

That number is out of the 857 people who have been tested a the organization’s various facilities, including its recently-opened drive-thru clinic.

While Bryan still has 159 pending tests, John Woodrich, CEO of Bryan Medical Center, said they’ve been able to get results back faster by sending samples to other labs in the United States.

Nearly 700 tests have come back negative, Woodrich said.

City and health officials announced Monday afternoon that there have been a total of 31 lab-confirmed cases reported in Lincoln and Lancaster County as of Monday afternoon.

Officials also discussed how the hospitals would address a surge of patients, which includes plans to convert spaces into ICU rooms if needed.

“I think we’re ahead of the game right now,” Woodrich said.

Bryan has 138 ventilators, and only one COVID-19 patient currently on one of the devices. If needed, all 138 could be put into use.

As for in-house testing, officials said they’re still waiting on reagents from vendors.
