Bryan Health officials say they’re seeing the highest number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients to date.
As of Monday morning, Bryan had 17 in-house patients. Of those, eight were Lancaster County residents, nine were in intensive care, and seven were on ventilators.
“These are individuals we want to keep people away from,” John Woodrich, CEO of Bryan Medical Center, said.
Bryan has now received 490 positive results out of a total 4,089 tests (about a 12% positivity rate).
Despite the higher numbers, Woodrich says Bryan is in excellent shape.
“We have the capability of literally handling hundreds,” he said.
Bryan has also discharged dozens of patients.
Bryan officials say the peak date for Lincoln is likely to be between May 11 and May 13th. They stressed caution ahead of upcoming celebrations for Cinco de May and Mother’s Day, and reminded people to follow social distancing and hygiene practices.
“The peak isn’t as big a peak as people believe it will be as long as we continue to flatten the curve,” Woodrich said.
