LINCOLN, Neb., (KLKN) — Bryan Health spoke on the importance of mental health, at a briefing this week, during National Mental Health Awareness week.
“The Center for Disease Control released a report in August, and that report says that in June of 2020, they’ve reported a 40 percent increase in mental health and substance use concerns in Americans,” said Dave Miers, Bryan West counseling and program development manager.
Miers advises the public to reach out for help by using Bryan health’s free online screening. He says its normal to go through the five stages of grief, but to pay attention to the sixth stage.
“He added a sixth stage of grief and that stage is finding meaning,” said Miers. “Where we look at what just happened? What happened that caused this grief? I want to find a sense of meaning and purpose for what we’re going through.”
