Burglary suspect leads officers on manhunt through northeast Lincoln neighborhood

A burglary suspect was arrested after leading law enforcement officers on a manhunt through a northeast Lincoln neighborhood late Wednesday morning.

Lincoln Police said the suspect, identified as Martin Shokai, 30, was wanted for breaking into a home near 65th and Adams.

The homeowner told police he was notified by his security camera system that someone was inside his house.

Officers arrived at the house and saw the suspect running from the scene.

Lincoln Police officers worked with Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office deputies to set up a perimeter in the area, some wielding assault rifles.

A K9 unit was called to the scene.

A Channel 8 Eyewitness News reporter caught Shokai on camera running between houses and across a street before being taken down by officers in the front yard of a home.

Police said some of the homeowners items were found on him.

Shokai faces burglary charges, police said.
