California man found with 8.5 pounds of cocaine in vehicle near Seward

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Deputies seized several pounds of cocaine in a vehicle in Seward County on Monday, the sheriff’s office said.

Around 12:30 p.m., a deputy pulled over a vehicle heading east after the driver made two separate traffic violations, the sheriff’s office said.

During the traffic stop, the deputy became suspicious of criminal activity and requested a K9.

That K9 sniffed out the smell of drugs coming from inside the vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies then searched the vehicle and found 8.5 pounds of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of around $100,000, the sheriff’s office said.

Rodrigo Figueroa, 19, of Santa Barbara, California, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

He was taken to the Seward County Detention Center.
