LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) –On Tuesday, the Nebraska Democratic Party joined President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris’ team in hosting a candlelight vigil to honor the lives lost to COVID-19. A handful of people showed up to the Nebraska State capitol to light a candle and have a moment of silence.

The event was to light up the darkness with candles and flashlights in remembrance of those we have lost and in honor of those still battling this pandemic.

“I think a candle really symbolizes a light and that light that we really see at the end of the tunnel. I think for families who lost loved ones, I want them to know we deeply care about them and their loved one is not forgotten and we will through this together as a nation,” Nebraska Democratic Party Chairwoman, Jane Kleeb, said.

In Nebraska, almost 2,000 residents have lost their lives to COVID-19.
